The Colorado Avalanche find themselves in a delicate situation with star defenseman Cale Makar’s contract negotiations. While the team has the opportunity to secure Makar’s services for the long term, the clock is ticking. With the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) in place, the Avalanche can only offer Makar an eight-year contract after September 15th, a significant change from the previous seven-year maximum. This presents a unique challenge, as the team must decide whether to commit to Makar for the full eight years or explore alternative options.
